Accor Key – Accor’s new digital keyless door entry solution makes contactless, seamless guest experiences a reality.
As part of its on-going commitment to safety and convenience, Accor has launched a new keyless door entry solution in hotels across the globe, delivered in partnership with STAYmyway. “Accor Key” has been developed in line with the Group’s strategy to provide a contactless guest journey in its facilities. Providing customers access to their rooms without a physical key will also help reduce the amount of plastic used in traditional key cards and cardboard in key holders.
The focus of the rollout will be to provide customers with a keyless door entry solution, while ensuring that hotels do not lose the human touch that guests require. On arrival, customers will receive their room key virtually via Accor’s digital key app. They will then be given access to rooms, entry to meeting rooms and floor access via lifts using their smartphone. Accor Key will automatically be deactivated on departure.
Following successful pilot programs in North America, Europe and Asia, the rollout will begin across all new Accor hotels opening in 2021. It will also extend to existing properties with the aim to equip 500 hotels with Accor Key this year, and at least 50% of all rooms across the network within the next five years. Halo COVID-19 screening uses RT-qPCR nucleic acid testing, among the most sensitive virus tests available anywhere in the world. Samples are saliva-based, which is scientifically proven to be at least as accurate as nasal swabs and easier to perform. Halo tests have approvals internationally from FDA, CE, the UK government (CQC/MHRA) and are accepted as part of the NHS national system. As well as secure app notification Halo provides downloadable certification which is being relied upon by major airline flight crews to enter destinations around the globe that require a recent PCR test. While we cannot guarantee certification will be accepted by every border authority in every state, we are confident Halo provides the most reliable form of COVID-19 testing for travel and are working hard with governments and businesses to help the world’s travel industry to return to normal.

Evolving for a new era
Fairmont Olympic Hotel’s $25-million grand renovation commenced in January 2020, signaling the largest renovation project for the historic hotel in 40 years.
The first chapter of the project unveils a fully transformed lobby with breathtaking character that will anchor a bold social experience for guests and locals. The renovation extends to all key event spaces, setting the perfect stage for momentous celebrations. Debuting in 2021, the subsequent chapters of the project will showcase a new culinary flagship and modern classic bar that promise to deliver a new vision of Seattle luxury.
The Olympic tapped Spanish design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán (LRV) will create a vision and interior design for the hotel which will celebrate its storied grandeur with a lush new vision of Seattle luxury. The space concept will present a strong sense of narrative with subtle reference to classic themes, textures, and materials. Parts of the hotel will be restored to their original state and some artifacts repurposed with a new life.
Working in tandem with LRV, Parker-Torres Design Inc. designed the meeting rooms. Parker-Torres completed a $25-million renovation at the hotel in 2016, which included a total renovation of all guestrooms and corridors.

Then and Now
The story of our iconic hotel goes as far back to the 19th century. The 21c Museum Hotel – Kansas City and The Savoy at 21c were previously the Kansas City’s Hotel Savoy, which was built in 1888 by the owners of the Arbuckle Coffee Company.
In 1903, the original hotel was remodeled, and the west wing was added, featuring the Savoy Grill dining room. The Savoy Grill was the longest-running restaurant west of the Mississippi River until it closed in 2016 prior to our renovations.
